Harrison Museum of African American Culture in Roanoke, VA is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director. The Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for all aspects of museum operations. He or she must manager and lead the museum’s resource development efforts (including grant writing and fund raising), programs and exhibitions, and the development of a relocation plan.
Qualifications: Applicants with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and four years experience in art, history, museum studies or related fields of expertise in African American art and history are preferred. Prior museum knowledge and/or non-profit management experience are desirable. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to lead and work in teams and obtain outcomes with limited supervision. This individual must have a proven leadership, fund raising and marketing track record. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required and expected.
