Summer 2025 Newsletter

From the Executive Director

Friends,

I’m thrilled to invite you to dive into what promises to be a rich and vibrant summer at your Harrison Museum. While we await the late‑fall opening of our new Melrose space, our commitment to programming, community, and culture has never been stronger.

⚾ Not Your Average Tailgate

Join us on Saturday, June 28, at Salem Memorial Ballpark for our annual celebration of Black baseball heritage—an afternoon of game-day culture and connection, co-hosted with the Salem Red Sox and The Humble Hustle Company. Whether you’re an informational vendor (slots include two tickets for a suggested $50 donation) or joining as a guest, your presence showcases the power of unity and local pride. Let’s honor legends, raise awareness, and enjoy a classic family‑friendly ballgame together.

🛠 The Next Forty Years Campaign
This next chapter is about more than a new building—it’s about the future we’re creating together. We’ve launched the Next Forty Years Campaign to raise $100,000 by September to support the build-out, staffing, and programming of our new home. We’re nearly halfway there. CLICK HERE TO DONATE TODAY!

If you’ve given, thank you. If you haven’t, this is your moment. Your support fuels the future of Black storytelling, art, education, and legacy in our region.

Because what we build now matters.

Warmly,
E.B. Smith
